Reception Parent Welcome - September 2020

Mrs Austin has decided to host a Zoom meeting for her parents as many are new to the school. This will be next Thursday 17th at 4.30pm. All Reception parents will receive an email inviting them to join the meeting on Thursday morning. The meeting will last about 40 minutes. If you are not familiar with online meetings, give it a try as it is easier than you think.

Reception Class Room - The Sunshine Room

This is our classroom.  Take a look around.

Our Classroom is named The Sunshine Room. Alongside focussed activities, we can learn in the continuous provision areas. We have a Home Corner, Reading Area, Understanding the World/Fine Motor Area, Writing Area, Mathematics Area, Sand Area and Construction Area.

Our Outdoor Area

Take a look at our outdoor area.  We have great fun here.

The Rainbow Room

The Rainbow Room is shared area which we use alongside Year One. It houses many continuous provision areas as well as focussed, differentiated learning challenges linked to the current topic. The Rainbow Room is accessed daily by all children.

The Annexe

We now have a wet room to enable our children to change into waterproofs and wellies so they can access our new equipment safely - and mainly, keep clean and dry! The Rain and Shine room has also been adapted to house even more new outdoor resources and equipment which can be accessed by the children during independent learning time.

Things to Remember

PE

PE Day: Monday + continuous outdoor provision - PE kit must be kept in school at all times (in a drawstring bag).

Outdoor Learning

Please make sure your child brings a coat to school everyday. Outdoor learning is a vital part of the Early Years Curriculum and will happen on a daily basis. We kindly ask for you to provide us with a pair of wellies for your child which can be kept in school. This will enable us to learn outside in all Oldham weather!

Wellies

Please make sure that your child has a pair of wellies in school so that our outdoor learning can take place in all weathers. The wellies need to be labelled with the child’s name or initials.
