The Sunshine Room
Our Classroom is named The Sunshine Room. Alongside focussed activities, we can learn in the continuous provision areas. We have a Home Corner, Reading Area, Understanding the World/Fine Motor Area, Writing Area, Mathematics Area, Sand Area and Construction Area.
The Annexe
We now have a wet room to enable our children to change into waterproofs and wellies so they can access our new equipment safely - and mainly, keep clean and dry! The Rain and Shine room has also been adapted to house even more new outdoor resources and equipment which can be accessed by the children during independent learning time.

Reception Class Recommended Reading Books
Giving children access to all varieties of literature is extremely important for their success. Reading is a key life skill which is crucial to developing language skills and access to the wider curriculum. It provides children with the chance to respond and develop personal opinions encouraging deeper thoughts and their imagination. Our aim is to develop a love and passion for reading both at home and school. We have specially selected high quality reading books for each year group. Some of these books can be found in the classroom and some are available for loan at Lees library. Encourage your child to read as many of these books as possible throughout the year.

Things to Remember
PE: Friday and continuous outdoor provision.
Outdoor Learning: Please make sure your child brings a coat to school everyday. Outdoor learning is a vital part of the Early Years Curriculum and will happen on a daily basis. We kindly ask for you to provide us with a pair of wellies for your child which can be kept in school. This will enable us to learn outside in all Oldham weather!
Wellies: Please make sure that your child has a pair of wellies in school so that our outdoor learning can take place in all weathers. The wellies need to be labelled with the child’s name or initials.
Library: Thursdays
Reading Books: Changed weekly
Homework Grid: Completed weekly – Your child will bring home a booklet, to be completed each week. Please leave this in your child’s bag.
Reading at Home: at least three times a week — please write in the planner when your child has read at home on three separate occasions. This is now an always rule. It is very important for your child’s development that they practise their sounds and reading books little and often at home and at school.
