Reception Events Gallery 2016-17

Take a look at some of the great things we have been doing in Reception Class.

Election Day - May 2017

Reception voting in our schools Greater Manchester Mayor Election.

Circus Sensible - April 2017

Reception had a fun filled day on Tuesday 25th April when Circus Sensible came to visit. We saw a few tricks as well as being able to have a go ourselves at loads of different circus acts. Remmy was brilliant at balancing peacock feathers and Layla was a dab hand at spinning plates. Sophia wowed us with the Chinese ribbons and Lillie-Mae and Jenson were amazing on the stilts. We had so much fun!

Circus Sensible continued - April 2017

We had great fun learning new skills.

Ducklings in the Annexe - New Life/Easter topic

On Monday 6th March, seven eggs arrived in an incubator at the Annexe building. We ensured the eggs were kept warm throughout Tuesday and then...through the night and into Wednesday morning, seven beautiful ducklings hatched. We have looked after them for the past two weeks. We've kept them safe and warm. We have fed and watered them. They have even had daily swims in our water tray! Mrs Fountain has cleared their brooding box out twice a day and Miss Birtles took them home over the weekend. We are going to miss our ducklings, but it is time for them to return to the farm.

Jump Nation Trip - February 2017

We had a great time at our trip to Jump Nation.

Reception Christmas Show 2016

A huge WELL DONE to our Reception children who not only sang 'Away in a Manger' for a packed out church, but who also took on the roles of the most important people from the Nativity story.

The Blue Cross Visit

Paul from ‘Blue Cross for Pets’ came to talk to us about staying safe around dogs. We had a special assembly to support ‘Jades Campaign’ and we became aware of the physical signs dogs give us about how they’re feeling. Paul came to our classroom after the assembly to talk to us further about caring for pets, especially dogs. We had a lovely time and learnt a lot about how to keep safe and enjoy our special, furry friends!

Business Challenge

We have had a lot of fun decorating our wooden decorations over the past couple of weeks. We have been learning that everything has a value and decided to decorate and sell wooden Christmas decorations to raise some money for the Annexe. We made sure our decorations looked beautiful and we held a special ‘Sing and Sell’ sale at the end of the school day to ensure we made the maximum profit possible.

Christmas Party

Reception loved their party, especially all the dancing! Father Christmas made a special appearance, we could hear him land with Rudolph on the roof!

Christmas Dinner

We really enjoyed our Christmas dinner. It was delicious! We wish it could be Christmas dinner everyday!

Special Visitor December 2016

We had a special visitor in the annexe today to help us with our current topic, Christmas and Celebrations. Miss Lynch’s friend, Rachel, came into school with her new baby, Emily. We were lucky enough to see Emily awake, with her big blue eyes open wide. We asked Rachel a range of questions about why Emily is so special and how, when and where she was born. We compared Rachel and Emily’s experience to that of Mary and Jesus. We found out just how different having a baby is now, to 2000 years ago.
