Reception Class Gallery 2021-22

Take a look at the fun things we have been doing in Reception this year.

Types of Buildings - April 2022

In Reception we have been looking at the houses, homes and different types of buildings that there are in our villiage. Last Friday we went for a walk around Lees to see how many different styles of houses we could find and the many different buildings that there are. The children were able to spot lots of terraced houses, some semi-detached and detached houses. They even saw bungalows and some new flats next to school. The children were very keen to also spot a range of buildings other than houses. The children were able to see the co-op petrol station, library, different shops and churches. They all enjoyed their walk and were able to tick of many different buildings on their tick list.

World Book Day - March 2022

For World Book Day, we all came to school dressed up as either a Superhero or a Villian. We started the day with a fun assembly where the children enjoyed sharing their costumes. We played the masked reader and had to guess which teacher was reading a passage from their favourite story book.  We then had a visit from Mr and Mrs Twit. Our children enjoyed watching the staff act out parts of the book.

Christmas Dinner - December 2021

We all enjoyed our first ever Christmas dinner day. We all had a cracker, a special drink and a lovely Christmas dinner, served by all of our teachers

Christmas Concert - December 2021

Reception enjoyed taking part in their first Christmas Concert in church, singing, 'Little Donkey' and 'Away in a Manger'.

Christmas Markets - December 2021

Last week in the annexe we held our own Christmas markets with a stall and even a visit from Father Christmas himself. In the run up to the Christmas Markets, the children had created Christmas Eve sets that included reindeer food, a hot chocolate cone and a festive mug. The children also all made their own Christmas decoration to sell. Our stall was a sell out and the children were all very excited to have their creations on sale.

Ourselves: Sense of Smell - October 2021

In Reception our main topic is 'Ourselves'. This week in school we have been looking at our five senses and how we use these in our everyday lives. Today we used our sense of smell to guess the everyday item hidden in the pot. The children enjoyed this activity and were able to make a range of guesses as to what they thought was in the pot. We then had a discussion about our favourite smells and the smells that we didn't like.
