Summer 2 Message from Miss Lawton

Welcome back to the final half term of the academic year! We hope that you have had a restful break and we are ready for the final push to the summer holidays.

We are starting with our exciting research topics where each child has their very own topic book to fill with information and content of their chosen subject. Then we are moving onto Rotten Romans, Wimbledon, Georgia O’Keeffe and Au Revoir.

At St. Thomas’ we value the link between home and school. We recognise the importance of parental support as it is vital in ensuring the maximum progress and achievement for your child. Please continue to use your child’s Planner for effective communication. However, if you have any concerns, questions or queries in the meantime, please feel free to make an appointment to see me before or after school.

Many thanks for your support,

Miss R. Lawton

Home Learning

Homework

Year 3’s weekly homework is incorporated into the nine sections of the Homework Grid. The Homework Grid needs to be completed each week and signed by an adult.

I will check and sign the previous week of the Homework Grid on your child’s designated day which is found at the front of the planner.

Reading

The children are expected to read to an adult at least three times a week, if not daily. Please note in the planner every time you read with your child.

Spellings

These will be sent home each Friday and tested the following Thursday. It is important for each child to have a practise of their spellings at home, which is part of their Homework Grid.

Things to Remember

PE

Tuesdays and Fridays.

Children must come into school in their PE kit wearing their Always Badge.

Library Visit

Tuesday afternoons.

Children must bring in any library books that they have taken home to read/shared.

Planner

This is to be in your child’s book bag every day to ensure easy communication between school and home.

The planner must be signed weekly by a parent or guardian, I will check the previous week during Guided Read time.
