Autumn 2 Message from Miss Lawton
We hope you had a wonderful break and are ready for the exciting learning we have planned! We have got Ancient Egyptians to start of our very busy half term then we are moving on to ‘How Do I Move?’, ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ and ‘Three In One’.
On Wednesday 14th November we will be doing a school visit to Westwood Mosque as part of The Linking Project with Westwood Academy. This will be a morning visit during school hours and it is a great opportunity for Year 3 to meet their linking school.
At St. Thomas’ we value the link between home and school. Thank you for the positive support throughout the first half term including a very positive Progress Evening. We recognise the importance of parental support as it is vital to ensure the maximum progress and achievement for your child. If you have any concerns, questions or queries, please write in your child’s planner or feel free to make an appointment to see me before or after school.
Many thanks for your ongoing support,
Miss R. Lawton
Teaching and Learning Newsletters
Year 3’s weekly homework is incorporated into the nine sections of the Homework Grid. The Homework Grid needs to be completed each week and signed by an adult.
I will check and sign the previous week of the Homework Grid on your child’s designated day which is found at the front of the planner.
The children are expected to read to an adult at least three times a week, if not daily. Please note in the planner every time you read with your child.
These will be sent home each Friday and tested the following Thursday. It is important for each child to have a practise of their spellings at home, which is part of their Homework Grid.
Things to Remember
Tuesday and Friday.
Children must come into school in their PE kit wearing their Always Badge.
Children must bring in any library books that they have taken home to read/shared.
This is to be in your child’s book bag every day to ensure easy communication between school and home.
The planner must be signed weekly by a parent or guardian, I will check the previous week during Guided Read time.
