Autumn 1 Message from Miss Lawton

Welcome back to the new academic year! We are excited to start our journey in KS2 off with lots of exciting topics. We are starting with Bienvenue! then moving onto Rules for Living, Where In The World?, Let There Be Light, Democracy and Liberty and Three Little Birds. I look forward to be teaching Year 3 again this year and I am exciting to welcome the children on Tuesday 4th September 2018.

We have a Welcome Meeting on Thursday 12th September at 3:30-4:00pm or 5:30-6:00pm where I have chance to say hello and for you to find out new routines in KS2  and the learning experiences that are going to take place in the coming year. We hope to see you there. Children are more than welcome to join us while we have a chat about their new class.

Many thanks for your support,

Miss Lawton.

Home Learning

Homework

Year 3’s weekly homework is incorporated into the nine sections of the Homework Grid. The Homework Grid needs to be completed each week and signed by an adult.

I will check and sign the previous week of the Homework Grid on your child’s designated day which is found at the front of the planner.

Reading

The children are expected to read to an adult at least three times a week, if not daily. Please note in the planner every time you read with your child.

Spellings.

These will be sent home each Thursday and tested the following week. It is important for each child to have a practise of their spellings at home, which is part of their Homework Grid.

Things to Remember

PE

Tuesday and Friday.

Children must come into school in their PE kit wearing their Always Badge.

Library Visit

Tuesday afternoons.

Children must bring in any library books that they have taken home to read/shared.

Planner

This is to be in your child’s book bag every day to ensure easy communication between school and home.

The planner must be signed weekly by a parent or guardian, I will check the previous week during Guided Read time.
