Summer 1 Message from Miss Bamber
Hello again from myself and the Year 4 team of Mrs Shewan, Mrs Douglas, Mrs Bishop and Mr Wildhood. So here we are, two thirds of our way through the school year and into the Summer term already.
This is a seven week half term and we will be learning through three great topics. We will be learning about ‘Sound’ through science and music, ‘The Shang Dynasty’ through history and ‘Georges Seurat’ and the artistic style of pointillism. When we look at sound and music we will study aspects of rock music, its history and how it has developed over the years.
Teaching and Learning Newsletters
Year 4's weekly homework is incorporated into the nine sections of the Homework Grid, presented in a booklet for the whole half term. The Homework Grid needs to be completed weekly and signed/dated by a parent or guardian. This will be checked on the same day as the planner.
The children are expected to read to an adult at home at least three times a week, if not daily. The planner must then be signed by the adult .
Spellings and Times Tables
Spellings will be sent home on a Wednesday and tested the following Wednesday. Times Tables will be tested on a Thursday.
Things to Remember
Children must come into school in their PE kit.
Children must bring in any Library books which have been taken home to be read/shared.
This is sent home every night for easy communication with parents. It must be sent into school each day inside the book bag.
The planner must be signed weekly by a parent or guardian.
All children's planners will be checked on a set day, details of which can be found at the front of the planner.
