Year 4 Parent Welcome - September 2020
Normally at this time of year, all the classes hold meetings with parents to welcome you to the new class and inform you of class expectations and requirements. Unfortunately, this year it will not be possible to invite you into school. Instead each class will have uploaded a Powerpoint onto the class pages of the website for you to read by home time today. Please have a look and contact the class teacher via the planner with any queries.
Please download the document below.

Welcome to Year 4
I hope everyone is ready and excited to settle back into their 'normal' routines and for a busy term ahead. I can’t wait to meet the children and begin to work on busting some BBs.
Year 4’s first topic is Save the Rainforest, followed by God, David and Goliath, Are we Human and French Language.
PE will be every Wednesday and Friday.
Spellings will be set on Thursday, with tests the following week. A Times table test will also be set on Thursday to prepare children for the statutory table test at the end of the year.
Please help your child with spellings and times tables at home. Thank you.
In Year 4 we also ask for your child to complete a homework grid every week. It is very important that your child completes and returns their homework grid on time.
As we begin the new academic year, please avoid any absences from school wherever possible.
Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, including any matters related to the statutory tables test, please feel free to get in touch via your child’s planner.
Year 4's weekly homework is split into nine sections. The Homework Grid needs to be completed weekly and signed/dated by a parent or guardian. This will be checked on the same day as the planner.
Children are expected to read to an adult at home at least three times a week, if not daily. The planner must then be signed by the adult.
Spellings and Times Tables
Spellings will be set on Thursday, with tests the following Thursday. A Times table test will also be set on Thursday to prepare children for the statutory table test at the end of the year.
